THE ASTRONAUT'S MENORAH
Traveling Hanukka Menora. A small rectangular box that is easy to carry, and which when opened turns into an oil Menora. It is decorated at the corners with hammered designs, with the Menora of the Holy Temple at its center, together with the word, “Hanukka.” “These candles are holy” is etched on the spread base of the Menora. Menoras intended for travel were made by Jewish smiths from the middle of the 19th century. A Hanukka Menora like this one was the first Menora to leave Earth when Jewish astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman flew into space in December 1993. Hand crafted, integrating hammer work, engraving, cutting and delicate smithing. 925 sterling silver.
