SHABBAT CAR

The luxury Mercedes Benz 500K Roadster (1936) model, served the infamous German chancellor during World War II. Use of this model as a Judaica item comes to demonstrate who ultimately prevailed in that war. The model car contains all of the articles for Shabbat: A Kiddush cup, a Havdala box surrounded by the Havdala blessings. A spice tower hidden in the radiator that can be removed. The reserve wheels hold Shabbat candle holders. The only external hints that the car is a Jewish artifact are the license plates on the front and back of the car. Hand crafted, integrating hammer work, engraving, cutting and delicate smithing.
925 sterling silver.

Exhibited in the "Chains of silver" (רתוקות הכסף) exhibition at the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum Ramat Gan, Israel, 2012.
